American Red Cross, September 11 Response & Recovery

Education, Public Service

As the title suggests, this site documents the American Red Cross's response to the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, DC and Sanksville, PA. The project also included the design of a corresponding printed report. Unlike the many other Web sites, articles and TV shows that chronicle the day, this one has no attention-grabbing images, sound bites or video from the actual event.

• Content is a cohesive combination of audio, video and interactive information graphics that clearly and accurately show the scope of the effort.

• A minimal color scheme and elegant typography successfully aligns with the Red Cross brand.

• Instead of focusing on the day, it focuses on the five-year aftermath and the role of the Red Cross in the ongoing lives of those most directly affected.
